Infectious Diseases & Immunology team

exp date isn't null, but text field is

The Paediatric Infectious Disease and Immunology team offers a consult service to the general paediatric and all specialist services within the Royal Hospital for Children and across Scotland. We provide advice on diagnostics and management of patients with complex infection and suspected immunodeficiency. We also provide direct clinical care for patients with both infectious diseases and primary immunodeficiency. We provide outpatient services in general paediatric infectious diseases, blood borne virus infection, tuberculosis, and primary immunodeficiency. We work alongside infection specialist colleagues in microbiology, virology and infection prevention and control. During the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic we worked closely with colleagues in infection prevention and control to reduce the risk of transmission within the hospital.

The team

The team includes two full-time consultants in Paediatric Infectious Diseases, Immunology and Allergy, and two consultants in General Paediatrics and Paediatric Infectious Diseases. One clinical nurse specialist has responsibilities in Infectious Diseases and Immunology, and two specialist pharmacists have responsibilities for antimicrobial prescribing and blood-borne virus infection respectively. The team is supported by a full-time secretary.
